C1115: ABS Power Relay Output Short Circuit To Battery

C1115 is a chassis fault stored when the ABS control module detects that the power relay output circuit has a short circuit to battery voltage. This means a wire or component in the ABS relay output circuit is seeing voltage when it should not, which is a sign that the circuit has developed an unintended connection to a power source. The ABS module monitors this circuit closely because proper relay control is essential for the anti-lock braking system to function correctly.

The short to battery is most commonly caused by chafed or damaged wiring in the ABS harness that has worn through to a nearby 12V source, a faulty relay with an internal short, or a wiring connector that has been pushed into contact with a voltage rail. Begin by inspecting the ABS relay and its socket for signs of burning or damage, then trace the wiring harness from the relay to the ABS module looking for any points where the insulation is compromised.

This fault is rated medium severity, but given that it directly involves the ABS system you should treat it with urgency. A short circuit in the ABS relay circuit can compromise the entire anti-lock braking function, affecting your ability to stop safely in an emergency. Do not defer this repair.
