U0125: Lost Communication With Multi-axis Acceleration Sensor Module
What does U0125 mean?
U0125 is a network communication code that triggers when the vehicle's control modules can no longer receive data from the multi-axis acceleration sensor module. This sensor monitors movement across multiple directions and feeds that data to systems such as stability control, rollover detection, and suspension management. When the module goes silent on the communication bus, U0125 is stored to flag the interruption.
The fault is most commonly caused by wiring issues between the sensor module and the CAN bus, including damaged harnesses, loose connectors, or corroded terminals. A failed or unpowered sensor module will also produce this code. Check that the module has a good fused power supply and a clean ground connection, then inspect the connector and nearby wiring for physical damage or moisture ingress.
As a low severity code, U0125 is unlikely to strand you, but the systems that rely on multi-axis acceleration data may operate in a reduced or fallback mode while the fault is active. Stability control and related safety features could be affected. Have it looked at at your next service and pay attention to any associated warning lights, particularly the traction control or stability control indicators.
Symptoms you may notice
- Check engine light (MIL) illuminated on dashboard
- Intermittent warning lights
- Erratic gauge readings
Estimated repair cost
Typical range in Australia (parts + labour)
Common causes
- Failed control module
- CAN bus wiring fault or short
- Blown fuse to the affected module
- Water intrusion in a connector or module
- Battery voltage too low
What should you do?
This is a minor or informational code. Monitor for any changes in vehicle behaviour and address it during your next scheduled service visit.
